Bearcats set to compete in six tournaments before NEC Men’s Golf Championship in late April

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton golf team announced its schedule for the spring of 2026 Thursday. The Bearcats are set to compete in six tournaments over the course of seven weeks before taking part in the 2026 NEC Men's Golf Championship from April 24-26 at Turf Valley Resort's Original Course in Ellicott City, Md.

"Our team is really looking forward to the spring season," said Binghamton Head Golf Coach Bernie Herceg. "We are able to get a little farther south early to start the year. Also, we have a few new venues and tournaments."

Binghamton begins the second half of its 2025-26 season by playing in Sacred Heart's Spring Break Invite from March 9-10 at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla. The Bearcats last competed at this tournament in 2024, finishing fifth.

Next, Binghamton faces its first new event of the spring when the Bearcats play in the Southern Intercollegiate on Monday, March 16. This tournament, hosted by Georgia, will consist of 36 holes being played throughout a single day at Athens Country Club in Athens, Ga.

"The Southern Intercollegiate will be exciting to compete in," said Herceg.

Five days later, Binghamton co-hosts the latest edition of the Carpetbagger Classic with Colgate at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md., from March 21-22.

Later that week, the Bearcats play in the Battle at Rum Pointe, hosted by Iona, from March 27-28 at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links in Berlin, Md. It will be the first time Binghamton participates in this tournament since 2023.

When the calendar turns to April, Binghamton gets to compete on another new course when the Bearcats play in Villanova's spring tournament, the Wildcat/Fazio Invite, from April 6-7 at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J.

To close out the regular season, the Bearcats travel to University Park, Pa., to take part in the Rutherford Intercollegiate from April 18-19 at Penn State's Blue Course. It is the third year in a row that Binghamton is playing in this event.

Turning its attention to the postseason, Binghamton plays later that week in the NEC Men's Golf Championship. This is the third time the Bearcats are competing in the conference's tournament since the Bearcats joined the league before the start of the 2023-24 season. The Original Course at Turf Valley Resort is another new course for Binghamton to compete in.

"This is probably our most competitive spring schedule that we have ever put together," said Herceg. "We are excited to compete and prepare for the NECs."

During the fall portion of their 2025-26 season, the Bearcats finished in the top three in three of their five tournaments. Brandon Conner, who finished second at both the Blue Hen Intercollegiate and the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, was named a Prime Performer by the NEC for the months of September and October. Freshman Jack Tebeau was also selected as a Prime Performer for the month of October after he tied for third at the Crusader Invitational.

Matthews Auto is the presenting sponsor of Bearcats Golf.
