VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton golf team has been picked to finish fourth in the NEC Men's Golf Preseason Poll, the league announced Friday.
Long Island University was picked to finish first in the 12-team poll with eight first place votes. Howard is picked to finish second with three first place votes. Fairleigh Dickinson is third in the poll with one first place vote.
Last fall, the Bearcats finished in the top three in three of their five tournaments. The Bearcats took second at both its home tournament, the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational on Oct. 6, as well as Delaware's Blue Hen Intercollegiate on Sept. 16. Additionally, Binghamton finished third at Holy Cross' Crusader Invitational to close out its fall schedule on Oct. 21.
Brandon Conner, who finished second at both the Blue Hen Intercollegiate and the Matthews Auto Collegiate Golf Invitational, was named a Prime Performer by the NEC for the months of September and October. Freshman
Jack Tebeau was also selected as a Prime Performer for the month of October after he tied for third at the Crusader Invitational.
Binghamton begins its spring season by competing in Sacred Heart's Spring Break Invitational from March 9-10 at Eagle Harbor Golf Club in Fleming Island, Fla.
