VESTAL, N.Y. - In an early-season battle between the top two programs in the America East, Binghamton baseball (5-8) will head to Smithfield, R.I. for a weekend series at Bryant (6-7). The teams will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons at Conaty Park. The series was originally scheduled for Vestal but expected chilly temperatures forced the trade-off of home dates. Binghamton will now host the Bulldogs on April 17-19.
The series pits the six-time conference and defending tournament champion Bearcats against the two-time reigning regular season winner Bulldogs. The teams met in May for the 2025 conference crown with Binghamton prevailing 6-5 in 11 innings in the winner-take-all game. The teams split the six first-place votes in the preseason poll, with the Bearcats holding a two-point edge to earn the tag as the preseason favorite.
Binghamton has won three of its last four, including a 15-9 victory over St. Bonaventure in Tuesday's home opener. Sophomore first baseman
Steven Kraus celebrated his selection as America East Player of the Week by collecting four hits against Bona. He leads the team in average (.326) and RBI (10). Sophomore center fielder
Matt Bolton is batting .300 with a team-best .426 on-base percentage.
Bryant has won its last two - victories over Rutgers (5-4) and Stonehill (9-1). The Bulldogs also won twice each against Davidson and Radford. Bryant is hitting .243 as a team and has a 6.07 pitching ERA.
