BERLIN, Md. – Both
Sean Shen and
Jack Tebeau of the Binghamton golf team finished the first round of the Battle at Rum Pointe in the top 20 Friday at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links.
Each of them shot 73/1-over par in his first 18 holes to complete the day tied for 14th out of 98 golfers. Shen posted five birdies during the opening round, as well as an eagle on the third hole. His final tally for Friday ties his lowest round this spring, matching his score in the final round of the Sacred Heart Spring Break Invitational on March 10.
Tebeau, meanwhile, recorded three birdies, as well as an eagle on the 13th hole. His score Friday is the lowest he has shot this spring.
Both golfers are five shots back of Fairfield's Rasmus Ditzinger and Monmouth's Patrick Scenna for the lead. Overall, Binghamton finished Friday seventh out of 16 teams at 301/13-over par. Fairfield and Iona are tied for first at 287/1-under par.
The final round of the Battle at Rum Pointe tees off at 10 a.m., on Saturday.
