VESTAL, N.Y. - Sophomore center fielder
Matt Bolton has capped his 2026 season with all-region honors. Bolton was named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Northeast second team, the association announced Tuesday. The teams are selected by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Bolton was a key ingredient in the Bearcats' repeating as America East champions and NCAA Regional participants. He led the Bearcats and ranked among the conference top-4 in average (.340), OPS (.995), doubles (16), triples (4) and slugging (.550). Bolton was a first team all-conference outfielder and was named America East Championship Most Outstanding Player after hitting a clutch 2-run home run in the championship game win over Maine.
In two seasons, he is on pace to become the program's all-time leader in hits, doubles, triples and runs. He also is on pace to be among the America East career top-2 in hits and runs.
Bolton becomes the program's 17th Division I all-region selection and third in the last two years.
The Bearcats accomplished the coveted America East "double," winning both the regular season and tournament titles. The team then returned to the NCAA Regionals for the second straight year and third time in the last five years. Binghamton's school-record 31 wins included 11 straight conference victories that pushed the Bearcats to the top of the standings. The team had 18 comeback wins and showed their grit in a 3-0 sweep in the America East tournament, held at the Bearcats Baseball Stadium
