VESTAL, N.Y. – Ariel Gaston scored a game-high 19 points and Elizabeth Belanger added 16 points, powering New Hampshire (15-9, 9-2 AE) to a 64-46 win over Binghamton (4-21, 1-11 AE) in an America East women's basketball game on Wednesday evening at the Events Center.

Belanger, who added seven rebounds, three assists and five steals, scored nine of her points in the first half as the Wildcats built a 25-15 lead. Gaston, however, scored all of her points in the second half.

New Hampshire's key spurt in the first half was an 8-2 run in a span of 2:06 to go up 18-9 with 4:41 left in the first half. Belanger had four of her points during that stretch.

Gaston, meanwhile, took over the game in the second half. In addition to her 19 points, she had four of her five steals during the final 20 minutes. All of those steals led to fast-break baskets.

Binghamton was within 49-40 when senior guard Stephanie Jensen drained a three-point field goal with 4:34 left to go. She finished with a team-best 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

From that point on, however, New Hampshire closed the game on a 17-6 run. Gaston had six points during that span and the Wildcats sank their final four free throws

"It was a tough loss because I thought we competed well against New Hampshire during parts of the game tonight," head coach Nicole Scholl said. "But they have the record they do for a reason. They are a very good team."

Binghamton is off for a week before heading to first-place Albany next Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
