VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's basketball plays its first home conference game of the season when the Bearcats (1-16, 0-2 AE) host Maine (1-13, 0-2 AE) at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Events Center. The game is the back-half of a doubleheader that begins when the BU women host Vermont at noon.
Binghamton is coming off a 69-59 setback at Hartford on Wednesday. In that game, freshman guard
Romello Walker scored 15 of his team-high 17 points in the second half as BU shot 64 percent to press the Hawks to the closing minutes. Sophomore guard
Marlon Beck added a season-high 16 points.Â
The Bearcats played the game without two starters as sophomore forward
Nick Madray and freshman center and leading scorer
Dusan Perovic were out with injuries.
Maine is coming off a 68-54 home loss to Vermont on Wednesday. The Black Bears trailed by just two at the half before Vermont shot 57 percent and put 40 points on the board in the decisive second half.
The all-time series between Binghamton and Maine is dead-even at 14-14 with each team holding an edge on its home floor. The teams split the season series last year with each team winning at home. On February 8, BU put three players in double figures and was plus-15 on the glass in a 73-58 win at the Events Center.
