Men defeat Niagara; women defeat Niagara and Siena

RESULTS

VESTAL, N.Y.—Both the Binghamton men's and women's swim teams posted victories today in a home meet featuring Niagara and Siena. The men defeated Niagara 171.5-128.5, while the women defeated Siena 190-108, and Niagara 206-88.
 
MEN
The men got off to a great start by sweeping the 200 medley relay. Travis Blank, Matthew DeVito, Tommy Cummings, and Brian McKenna finished first at 1:36.28 to win Relay A. In Relay B Steven Campagna, Amit Bachar, Alex Brion, and Andrew Hawkins won with a time of 138.50.
 
Andrew Duszynski (9:57.98) and Max Willard (10:01.06) then finished one and two in the 1000 free. Duszynski (54.26), Zachary Kaplan (54.45), and Campagna (55.24) were the top three finishers in the 100 back. Cummings (1:00.03) won the 100 breast, while McKenna (21.39) won the 50 free.
 
Brion (47.98) took the 100 free, while McKenna (48.04) tied for second. Cummings (2:13.71) then went on to win the 200 breast. In the 500 free, Binghamton had the top three finishers with Duszynski (4:49.55), Willard (4:51.29), and Hawkins (4:53.52).
 
In 1 meter diving, Cole Reagan picked up his second straight win to start his career. The Bearcats closed out their victory by winning the 400 free relay (3:12.23), featuring Duszynski, Hawkins, Bachar, and McKenna.
 
With the win the men improve to 2-1 on the year.
 
WOMEN
The women also got off to a great start by sweeping the 200 yard medley relay. In Relay A Claudia Coccaro, Selina Ng, Maria Trivino, and Courtney Foley finished first at 1:51.21. Katie Chung, Brooke Pettis, Stephanie Malyszka, and Mayraliz Lopez finished second at 1:54.45.
 
Kristen Pozmanter (10:45.23) then won the 1000 free, and Coccaro (1:00.76) won the 100 back. The women then had the top four swimmers in the 200 fly: Pettis (2:09.93), Taryn McLaughlin (2:11.46), Ng (2:11.78), and Haley Rice (2:15.35). Courtney Foley won the 50 free (25.31) and the 100 free (54.58), with Maria Dubin (55.46) finishing second the 100 free.
 
Trivino (2:28.39) and Malyszka (2:31.83) then finished one and two in the 200 breast. Pozmanter won the 500 free (5:19.90), and three Bearcats—Ng (57.65), Pettis (58.77) and Foley (59.66)—finished top-three in the 100 fly. Trivino then won the 400 IM to cap off the winning for the day.
 
With the wins the women improve to 2-2 on the year.
 
NEXT MEET
The teams will return to action on Friday, November 6 at Cornell University.
