VESTAL, N.Y. - The Binghamton swimming and diving programs host Canisius in a dual meet on Saturday. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Patricia A. Saunders Aquatics Center. The contest will also serve as Binghamton's senior meet. This marks the first home meet of the season for both teams.Â
Men
The Men's team (3-0) however placed sixth of our seven teams at the Bucknell Invitational two weekends ago.  Ryan O'Connell placed second in the one meter dive while
David Walters placed fourth in the same event. Other top 10 finishers included
Ross Bernstein, Matt Devito,
Patrick Wilson,
Shane Morris, Zach Kaplan, and
Alex Brion.
Last year when these two teams met, Canisius defeated Binghamton 155-145. Ross Bernstein took first place in the 1000 IM (10:06.36) and the 200 IM (1:58.26) while
Alex Brion finished first in the 50 free (21.59) and 100 free (47.98).
Cooper Langanis won the 200 free (1:45.01) and the 500 free (4:51.12)and
Thomas Mackey took first place in the 200 breast.
The Griffs Men's team beat St . Bonaventure in their last meet 153-145.
Canisius will be leaning on senior Travis Wright in the diving events again, as he took first place in the one-meter and three- meter by more than 20 points against St. Bonaventures. Wright's diving partner, Kris Santos placed second in the one-meter and three-meter dives. The Men's relay team also won the 200-yard medley for the Griff's in their last meet.
Canisius Men's team is 4-1 on the season and hopes to give Binghamton their first loss on the year.
Women
The women's team (3-1) and placed seventh at the Bucknell Invitational. Brooke Pettis claimed the top finish for the team when she placed sixth in the 100 butterfly. The 400 medley relay team of
Abby Koerwitz,
Sydney Atendido,
Brooke Pettis, and
Courtney Foley finished eighth (3:54.26), and the 200 medley relay team of
Erica Bachiller, Atendido, Pettis, and Foley, also finished eighth (1:46.09).
Maria Trivino also posted a top ten finish, when she placed ninth in the 200 breastroke 2:20.75).
The Griff's Women's team lost to St. Bonaventure in their last meet, 196-102. Senior Rebecca Anthone won the 500-yard (5:11.96) and the 1000-yard (10:43.68), in an otherwise uneventful meet for the ladies.
After this meet, the Bearcats have over a month break before hosting Marist for their second home meet of the season on January 11 at 1 p.m.
