Box Score ALBANY, N.Y. – In a battle for second place in the America East, the Binghamton women's basketball team (12-13, 7-5 AE) lost 80-63 at Albany (15-10, 9-3 AE) on Thursday evening at SEFCU Arena.
Junior center
Alyssa James finished with a game-high 21 points and added a game-high four blocks. It marked the second time this season and sixth time in her career that she has reached the 20-point mark. James entered the game leading the America East with 2.0 blocks per game.
Junior guard
Imani Watkins added 10 points while freshman guard
Kai Moon and sophomore forward Rebeeca Carmody each finished with nine points. Carmody also grabbed a team-best eight rebounds.
Binghamton was within 44-39 on a pair of free throws by Moon with 5:43 left in the third period. Over the remainder of the period, however, the Great Danes stretched their advantage to 65-54.
The Great Danes maintained a double-digit lead the rest the way. They closed the game on an 8-2 run over the final 3:30.
Bailey Hixson led Albany with 20 points while Imani Tate finished with 18 points Jessica Fequiere chipped in 12 points.
Binghamton, which came into the game leading the America East with 5.1 blocks per game, had eight rejections. In addition to James' total, senior forward
Kristin Ross tied a career high with two blocks.
At the free throw line, the Bearcats were 21-of-24, marking the third straight game they have shot at least 80 percent.
Binghamton travels to first-place New Hampshire on Sunday for a 1 p.m. game.
