BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - League-leading Buffalo (10-5, 5-0 Mid-American Conference) won the doubles point and then took five of the six singles matches to pin a 6-1 setback on Binghamton men's tennis (6-15, 1-5 MAC) Wednesday afternoon. The teams played the doubles outdoors at BU's Tennis Complex before moving indoors to the Binghamton Tennis Center for singles play as rain hit the area.
Senior No. 4
Thomas Caputo provided BU's lone win - a 6-0, 2-6, 6-3 victory. It was Caputo's 17th win of the season.
"It was a very disappointing start to the doubles for us today," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We fought back and put ourselves in a position to serve at 4-5 on No. 3 and we had two break points on No. 1 to make it 5-5. Buffalo did well to be consistent through the whole match and we just weren't able to maintain that the whole way through. There is still a shot at the playoffs but it is going to take a massive effort from us
on Sunday and some good fortune from the out of town scoreboard."Â
The Bearcats host Ball State in their regular season finale at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
