WEST POINT, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis (5-11) split two matches Sunday at West Point, falling 6-1 to the hosts before edging Quinnipiac 4-3. 

Against Army, BU dropped the doubles point and then lost five of six singles matches. Sophomore No. 4 Valentin Bouchet earned the lone win with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win. 

Bouchet spearheaded the win over Quinnipiac with his second singles win of the day. The Bearcats also got singles wins from sophomore Ludovico Cestarollo (No. 1), senior Thomas Caputo (No. 4) and Inigo Saez (No. 6) to shake off a loss in doubles and earn the narrow team victory.  

"Our youth and immaturity showed up and hurt us in the first match," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We had chances against Army across the board but they did a better job of staying even-keeled with the momentum swings. In the afternoon we grew a lot as a team and showed how good we can be when we deal with adversity. It was tough to come back with short rest in the doubleheader and take four singles points against a scrappy Quinnipiac side. Hopefully we can build on that."

The Bearcats next face Colgate on Thursday up in Hamilton.
