VESTAL, N.Y. - After opening the season with a well-earned win on Friday, Binghamton women's soccer (1-0) looks to make it a 2-0 start when the Bearcats host Manhattan (1-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Sports Complex.
In the team's 2-1 win over St. Bonaventure on Friday, redshirt junior forward
Kayla Saager assisted on two goals and after allowing a Bona goal less than two minutes in, BU steadied itself and outshot its visitors 25-7.
Sophomore forward
Ryan Reilly netted the game-winner in the 61st minute. After giving up a breakaway goal just 1:33 into the game, Binghamton evened it in the 29th minute on a goal from freshman forward
Essie Bonney. Senior keeper
Katie Hatziyianis was called on to make just three saves.
The Jaspers (1-0) are coming off a 1-0 home win over NJIT on Friday. In that game, senior Maria Clemente scored the game-winner after a corner kick in the 28th minute. The Jaspers held a 19-14 edge in shots. Sophomore Olivia Printy had to make just three saves.
The team returns 21 letterwinners, including nine starters from a 6-10-1 team of a year ago. Senior tri-captains Nicole Aylme, Emily Center and Erica Modena anchor the squad.
In last year's meeting between the two teams, BU used an early second-half goal to post a 1-0 win in Riverdale. The Bearcats lead the all-time series 3-1-1.
