Men's tennis loses spring opener at Dartmouth

Bearcats blanked 7-0 against talented Ivy League member

HANOVER, N.H. - Binghamton men's tennis drew a tough assignment in its spring opener and fell to Dartmouth 7-0 Saturday morning at the Boss Tennis Center.

The host Big Green captured the doubles point and dropped just one set in sweeping through the singles matches.

"Our start today was incredibly disappointing," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We misfired on some shots early in doubles and let that impact our confidence way too much. There were some stretches in singles when we put together some very solid play and stuck to simple patterns. We need to build out and extend those periods so we can get a foothold against a team like that. We'll work hard on that this week in order to be ready for Clemson and Army."

Junior No. 4 Inigo Saez had the most success, forcing a third-set super tiebreak after winning the second set 6-4 against Max Fliegner.

The Bearcats face Clemson (Sat.) and host Army (Sun.) next weekend at West Point.
