WEST POINT, N.Y. - Clemson (3-1) won five of the six singles matches to rally past Binghamton (0-2) 5-2 in the first-ever meeting between the two programs Saturday afternoon at Army's Lichtenberg Tennis Center. 

The Bearcats recorded the first point of the match with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles. At the top spot, sophomores Kushaan Nath and Tiago Lourenco rolled to a 6-1 win over the Tigers' top duo of Sam Edwards and Yizhou Liu. Then with the doubles portion all even, the pair of juniors Josh Druger and Inigo Saez earned a 6-4 win over Simon Baudry and Reed Rabideau to clinch the doubles point for Binghamton. Baudry is the 91st-ranked player in the country.

But the Tigers responded in singles. The Bearcats won the first set at both first and second singles before Clemson rallied to win three-set matches at each position. 

Sophomore Sebastian Quiros evened the match scored at 2-2 with his 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Reed Rabideau before Clemson won the final three matches. 

Binghamton played without two injured starters - juniors Ludovico Cestarollo and Valentin Bouchet. 

"I'm really proud of our turnaround in doubles today," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We took care of fundamentals much better than our first match and Inigo and Josh did a great job to close it out. Both teams fought hard today ... we took three first sets in singles so we put ourselves in a position to take it. We've grown up a lot in a week and if we stay on this path, we will keep getting better and turn these types of matches into wins."

Binghamton remains in West Point to face Army on Sunday.
