Swim & Dive competes at FIU Sprint Invite

Men finish second, women third

MIAMI, FL. - The Binghamton swimming & diving programs competed at the Florida International Sprint Invite on Friday as part of the Bearcats winter break training trip. The men finished second out of eight teams while the women finished third out of ten.

Men
Ryan O'Connell and Tyler Meyers secured the top individual finishes for the Bearcats. O'Connell placed second in the three-meter dive with 224 points. David Walters finished third in the same event with 219.85 points. Meyers placed second in the 100 back (51.89) Alex Brion took third in the 50 free (22.05) and Eric Wang finished third in the 50 back (25.61). The Binghamton 200 free relay grabbed fourth place, the team of Alex Brion, Travis Blank, Matt DeVito and Tyler Meyers swam a time of 1:30.87.

Women
Sydney Atendido lead the women's team with thee top-ten finishes. She grabbed ninth in the 50 breast (32.00), 100 IM (1:02.85) and the 100 breast (1:09.01). Courtney Foley finished tenth in the 50 free (25.98) and Kaitlyn Lange placed ninth in the 50 fly (27.80). In the three meter dive - Jamie Campbell took seventh (165.40), Megan Alkins was ninth (156.20) and Jen Yavid was tenth (154.75).

Both teams are back in action on Thursday, January 11 when they host Marist.
