TOLEDO, Ohio - Binghamton men's tennis (5-16, 1-5 MAC) surrendered the doubles point before roaring back to win four singles matches and earn a 4-3 road win over Toledo (3-15, 0-6 MAC) Friday afternoon at the UT Varsity Courts.

With the win, BU keeps its playoff hopes alive. Needing a top-four spot to advance to the Mid-American Conference tournament, the Bearcats must beat Ball State on Saturday (by a 2+ margin) and then have the Cardinals lose their finale Sunday vs. Buffalo. Last month, BU was edged by Ball State 4-3. 

At Toledo, BU dug out three-set wins in the middle of its singles lineup to rally from a 2-0 hole. The Bearcats received a straight-set win from sophomore No. 2 Tiago Lourenco to get on the board. Freshman No. 5 Alejandro Pena then steadied himself to post a 6-2 deciding third-set score to even the team match. Junior No. 4 Inigo Saez dropped his first set before storming back for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 triumph. Sophomore No. 3 Sebastian Quiros clinched the win for the visitors with a resounding 6-0 third set. 

"Toledo was ready for us today and went on the attack," assistant coach Charlie Ellis said. "In the first 30 minutes they hit us hard, winning the doubles point. None of our players blinked, though, and we fought our way back. This demonstrates our toughness ... not giving up on the season or themselves."

The Bearcats played without No. 1 Ludovico Cestarollo, still out with an injury. 

In doubles, Lourenco teamed with sophomore Kushaan Nath for a 6-2 win at the top spot but Toledo took the point with wins at second and third doubles. 

The Bearcats make the 180-mile trek southwest to Muncie, Ind. for Saturday's big 1 p.m. tilt with Ball State.
