BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis earned the doubles point and wins at the top two singles positions but visiting Northern Illinois (14-6, 4-1 MAC) rallied down in the singles lineup and edged the Bearcats (3-14, 0-3 MAC), 4-3 Sunday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
Junior
Ludovico Cestarollo and sophomore
Kushaan Nath each had a part in winning a doubles match and then both captured their singles matches. Cestarollo went to a third-set tiebreak for his win at No. 1 and Nath posted a 6-4, 6-4 win at the second spot. Â
"I was really impressed by how our guys managed momentum swings in doubles," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We were very solid sticking to our tactics in doubles and we were able to turn around a doubles point where we lost all three courts last time into a win today. We are struggling with confidence in singles but we are competing hard. Ludo (Cestarollo) and Kush (Nath) both played strong matches to get wins. We need them to keep that up down the stretch."
Binghamton next hosts Western Michigan on Friday.Â
