VESTAL, N.Y. -Â Two unbeaten squads meet head-to-head for just the second time when Binghamton women's soccer (1-0-1) faces Army West Point (2-0-1) Friday afternoon at West Point. The Bearcats and Black Knights kick-off at 1 p.m. at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.Â
The Bearcats opened their 2018 season last weekend with two games in a three-day span and now have been idle in the four days since. The two games were on opposite ends of the spectrum with Friday's season opening tie at St. Bonaventure featuring six goals, while Sunday's home win against Marist saw just one goal - a decisive
Dora Hayes header in the 66th minute.
Senior striker
Kayla Saager leads the team with a goal and two assists. Junior forward
Ryan Reilly has a goal and an assist. The goalkeeping duties have been split between freshman
Haylee Poltorak (0.00 GAA) and sophomore
Mackenzie Hanna (2.45 ERA). Â
This is Army's fourth game already this season and at 2-0-1, it's the program's best start in 21 years. The team is coming off a 1-0 win at Iona on Tuesday. In that game in New Rochelle, Army tallied the game-winner in the 87th minute. Before that, the Cadets beat Wagner 2-0 on Staten Island and tied Marshall 2-2 at home. The team has only allowed two goals this fall - none in the first half of play. Sophomore forward Erynn John leads the team with three assists and five points.Â
Army was picked to finish sixth of 10 in the Patriot League preseason poll. Senior defender Sydney Witham was selected to the Preseason All-Patriot League team. The co-captain garnered third team all-league honors in 2017 and was a vital part of Army's defensive unit.  Adrian Blewitt begins his first season as head coach after guiding Arkansas Little Rock for the last five seasons.
Binghamton won the only previous time the two programs met - a 1-0 road victory in 2013.Â
