Bearcats clinch the doubles point; grab three of six singles matches

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. - Binghamton men's tennis (6-5) battles for a 4-3 victory over Navy (11-4), Saturday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center. The Bearcats came off a strong start to clinch the doubles point en-route to winning three of six singles matches.

Senior Ludovico Cestarollo, and sophomore Alejandro Pena started the Bearcats off with a 6-4 victory at No.2 doubles. Juniors Kushaan Nath and Tiago Lourenco clinched the doubles point at No.1 for the Bearcats with a 7-5 win. Senior Inigo Saez, Ludovico Cestarollo, and Tiago Lourenco all grabbed victories in their singles matches to give Binghamton a 4-3 advantage over Navy.

"The doubles point was key today," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We've been getting leads with Pena and Cestarollo at No.2 but not closing. Today we got the  break early and kept it the whole way, Tiago and Inigo closed out wins quickly efficiently which was great to see. We have lots of areas of improvement and a couple weekends of non-conference play left to keep moving  forward, it will be fun to see how much progress we can make."

The Bearcats next matchup will be in Newark, against the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Friday afternoon at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Recreational Facility.
