Nath/Lourenco posted lone doubles win; Cestarollo and Pena secure singles victories

ANNAPOLIS, M.D. - Binghamton men's tennis (5-5) dropped their first match of the weekend to the University of Richmond (7-2), 5-2, Friday evening at the Tose Family Tennis Center. The Bearcats were unable to finish on No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches to lose the point, but went on to secure two of six singles victories.

The Bearcats came into a strong start for the match with juniors Kushaan Nath and Tiago Lourenco sealing a 6-3 victory in No. 1 doubles, before losing the doubles point to Richmond. Senior Ludovico Cestarollo earned the first point for the Bearcats at No. 1 singles, defeating Brice Polender, 7-5, 6-1. Sophomore Alejandro Pena battled for a victory at No. 6 singles, defeating Joe Nardini in three sets.

"That's a frustrating loss today," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We had a slow start down a break in doubles on all three courts. For a moment we got the momentum back with a win, but we didn't close it out, and we didn't deal well with that going into singles. We have a short turn around for tomorrow, we need to learn from today and implement tomorrow."

The Bearcats will stay in Annapolis to face Navy on Saturday morning at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
