WEST POINT, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis (4-2) steamrolled to five singles wins and rallied past host Army West Point (1-4), 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center.
Juniors
Kushaan Nath and
Tiago Lourenco notched a momentum-building tiebreak win over their 44th-ranked opponents at the top doubles spot and then each scored a singles win to propel the Bearcats to the team victory. Nath won a straight-set match at No. 2 singles to raise his dual record to 4-1 this spring.Â
"We were disappointed with our start in doubles today," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "But Kushaan and Tiago picked it up at the end and grabbed a win over a top 50 team, which helped us set the tone for singles. Army is a well coached team and I am very proud of the way we started singles. Army has had our number a few years in a row so it was good to come out on top."
The Bearcats stay in West Point to face ACC member Clemson at 9 a.m. Sunday.Â
