WILIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Host Buffalo (6-5) won a tightly-contested doubles point and then rattled off six singles wins to topple Binghamton men's tennis (8-8) 7-0 Friday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center.
The Bearcats' No. 2 doubles team of senior
Ludovico Cestarollo and sophomore
Alejandro Pena were on the verge of a win when the Bulls clinched the doubles point.Â
Junior
Tiago Lourenco had the best singles match, as he took a set from Vilhelm Fridell before falling in three.Â
"I was pleased with our doubles performance today," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We came out with great fight and intensity. Ludo and Alex were 5-3 serving and the different at Nos. 1 and 3 was one break in each. Tiago showed great fight and tenacity in his match, taking a very solid second set. We've got to be much better in the singles tomorrow (vs. Toledo). I'm looking forward to seeing how we respond tomorrow."
