WILIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Toledo (8-7, 1-0 MAC) took the doubles point and then won four of the six singles matches to defeat Binghamton men's tennis (8-9, 0-2 MAC) 5-2 Saturday afternoon at Buffalo's Miller Tennis Center.
The Bearcats' No. 2 doubles team of senior
Ludovico Cestarollo and sophomore
Alejandro Pena provided a 6-2 win and then each player won his singles match to account for the team points. Cestarollo earned a 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 win over Luka Vilosevic at first singles and Pena rolled to a 6-3, 6-1 win over Reid Teatsorth at No. 6.
"It was a disappointing result today," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "Give credit to Toledo for being solid start to finish. We're in a bit of a rut right now but we've had some good moments with this group this semester and I believe we can get it going again. It was a great fight by Ludo today, battling through some tough circumstances and grinding out a tough win."Â
Binghamton next faces Northern Illinois Thursday in Dekalb, Ill.
