ROCKVILLE, Ill. - Host Northern Illinois (9-9, 1-2 MAC) won the doubles point and five of six singles matches to topple Binghamton (8-10, 0-3 MAC) 6-1 in a Mid-American Conference men's tennis match Thursday afternoon at Boylan Tennis Center.

Junior No. 3 Tiago Lourenco provided BU with its lone point after a hard-fought three-set win overe Bor Schweiger Muzar. 

"NIU was very sharp with their intensity and fight today," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "They put a lot of balls back in play and we didn't match that. Credit to Tiago (Lourenco) today, coming through with a really strong mental performance from beginning to end."

Binghamton travels to Kalamazoo to face defending MAC champion Western Michigan at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
