Bearcats play at St. Francis Friday afternoon, host Manhattan Sunday at 1 p.m.

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (1-1) is set for a busy weekend with two games in a three day span. The Bearcats travel to Brooklyn early Friday for a 1 p.m. kickoff at St. Francis. Binghamton then returns home to host Manhattan at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Head coach Neel Bhattacharjee's squad has split its opening two games, beginning with a 2-0 home win over St. Bonaventure last Thursday before suffering a 4-0 loss to SEC member Georgia on Sunday down in Athens.

Freshman midfielder Olivia McKnight leads the team with a goal and an assist and sophomore forward Stefania Piantadosi has netted the other BU goal - the first of her career. Sophomore keeper Haylee Poltorak has made eight saves and earned the shutout in the season opener.

The game against the Terriers will be played at Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5 in Brooklyn Heights. St. Francis (0-2) is in its inaugural season as a varsity team and opened with losses to Lafayette (1-0 ot) and Rider (2-0). The team has 17 freshmen for head coach Justine Lombardi, who was the assistant coach at Quinnipiac for the last six seasons. The Terriers are competing in the Northeast Conference.

On Sunday, BU will welcome Manhattan (0-2) to Vestal. The Jaspers began their season with back-to-back narrow losses to fellow America East schools Hartford (2-1) and Stony Brook (2-1). They host Fordham Thursday night. Junior forward Arianna Montefusco has a team-best two goals to pace the offense. Manhattan was picked to finish eighth (of 11) in the MAAC preseason poll.

Binghamton leads the all-time series against Manhattan 4-1-2 and is unbeaten in the last three matchups (2-0-1). Last year the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Riverdale. In 2017 BU posted a 2-1 home win.
