HAMDEN, CONN. -The Binghamton University men's tennis team won two doubles matchups and added four singles victories en route to a 5-2 victory over Quinnipiac Monday afternoon. The win is the first dual triumph of the season.
"It felt good to get the first win of the year," said head coach
Nick Zieziula. "Freshmen came up with some key wins and showed good composure at critical moments. Our ability to stay even keeled during matches early in the season and deal with momentum swings is impressive and will be a key to success as the season progresses. (It is a) Great first weekend to build off of."
The Bearcats claimed the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 before capturing the four (of six) singles matches. The four individual winners on the afternoon were
Tiago Lourenco,
Alejandro Pena,
Dylan Friedman and
Dan Pergel, while the duos of Lourenco/Pawlowicz and Friedman/Pergel won in doubles.
Lourenco, Friedman and Pergel did not have a loss on the afternoon.
