BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton University men's tennis team rebounded from a close 4-3 loss to Youngstown State to defeat St. Francis Brooklyn 6-1 Sunday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
 
Alejandro Pena, Dan Pergel, and Dylan Friedman highlighted the team's efforts by winning both of their singles matches and a doubles match apiece.
 
"It was disappointing to lose the first one, but credit to Youngstown State for battling hard the whole way," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We've faced some adversity the last few days with things out of our control, but I'm really proud of the way the team has come together to support each other and fight through the matches. We learned a lot about our team in the last couple days and we will continue to grow from this. Hats off to St. Francis for the spirit they played with today to the last point. They made us work and it was good to get the win."
 
In the opening matchup with the Penguins, the Bearcats were unable to get the doubles point to kick things off, but managed to win three singles matches. Youngstown State was able to gut out the final two matches to come away with a close win.
 
In the second match, the Bearcats won all three doubles matches to earn a point and won five of six singles matches to come away with a convincing win. Freshman Michael Pawlowicz started it with a 6-3, 6-0 victory and Sebastian Quiros capped off the strong evening with a gutsy win in a super tiebreak (6-3, 5-7, 10-5).
