Bearcats to take on Monmouth Friday

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton University men's tennis team fell at the hands of Northern Illinois by a score of 5-2 Sunday morning in the team's second MAC match of the season. Kushaan Nath and Alejandro Pena led the way for the Bearcats with a doubles win.

"Credit to NIU for their fight and finding their way through a tough spot," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "We didn't control the things we needed to on our side of the net and that makes the loss hard to swallow. We've got some non-conference matches coming to work on things and need to take full advantage of those."

Nath and Pena were able to notch a 6-2 doubles win, while No. 3 doubles was won by default, but the Bearcats dropped five of six singles matches.

Freshman Adi Ben Ari was able to take home a default win at No. 6 singles, but the Bearcats were unable to come out on top. Dylan Friedman and Michael Pawlowicz fell in three sets.

Binghamton is back in action Friday at Monmouth. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
