Men's tennis competes at ITA Regionals

Verma posts qualifying singles win in Northeast event hosted by Penn

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Sophomore Shourya Verma was the lone Bearcat winnner at the ITA Northeast Regional, hosted by Penn. In qualifying singles play, Verma posted a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (6) win over Andrew Teixeira of St. Francis (Pa.). In his next match, Verma lost a straight-set result to top 16 seed Yaron Guberman of St. John's. 

The Bearcats had three players in the qualifying singles draw and one doubles team. In the main doubles draw, Verma and sophomore Michael Pawlowicz lost their opening match 8-3 against a pair from Drexel. In the main singles draw, Pawlowicz had to retire with an injury one game into his match against a player from Columbia.

Binghamton next competes at the MAC Indoor Championship on Nov. 5-7 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
