Shourya Verma won four matches to highlight the Binghamton men's tennis team's showing at the MAC Indoor event, hosted by Western Michigan at the West Hills Athletic Club. The Broncs hosted teams fromĀ Ball State, Binghamton, Buffalo, Northern Illinois and Toledo for the three-day event.Ā Ā
Verma went 2-1 at No. 2 singles, reaching the semifinals and only falling short of a championship spot by a third-set tiebreak. He also paired with junior
Dan Pergel to win two of three doubles matches at the top flight.
"We had a tough stretch coming into this weekend with injuries and illnesses but I'm proud of the effort and fight we gave," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "Shourya had a really tough week leading up but he did a fantastic job of working with what he could and finishing 2-1 in singles and doubles. We have lots to build off of over the next couple months before we open up the season in Florida."
The three doubles teams won a combined four matches to open the event on Friday.Ā Ā
