VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer begins a two-games-in-four-days stretch when the Bearcats (5-5-1, 1-1 America East) host UMBC (4-3-2, 1-1 AE) Thursday night. The teams will square off at 6 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex and the match will be broadcast on ESPN3.Â
The Bearcats are coming off back-to-back one-goal, overtime games to start conference play. On Sunday, BU suffered a 1-0 setback at UMass Lowell — the team's fourth loss by the most narrow margin this season.
Junior forward
Maya Anand still leads the conference in game-winning goals (4) and is tied for the lead with six overall goals.
Binghamton will look to continue its winning ways against the Retrievers. The Bearcats hold a 14-2-2 cushion in the all-time series and have won four straight, including last spring's 1-0 overtime road victory. Â Â
The Retrievers posted a 1-0 road win over Maine to open conference play. On Sunday, UMBC suffered a 2-0 home loss to Hartford to see its record return to .500. The team went 1-4 in conference play last spring and was picked to finish 10th in this year's Coaches' Preseason Poll. Senior all-conference back Erin Stevenson anchors a defense that has allowed less than a goal a game with three shutouts this fall. Junior forward Juliana Rafaniello leads the team with four goals.Â
