HANOVER, N.H. - Visiting Binghamton men's tennis (0-4) opened strong by grabbing the doubles point but host Dartmouth (1-0) took four of the five finished singles matches to prevail 4-2 Saturday morning at Boss Tennis Center.
Junior
Shourya Verma posted a strong 6-3, 7-5 victory over Pauli Dominic at No. 1 singles. Earlier, Verma teamed with junior
Dan Pergel for the clinching 6-4 win at the top doubles spot. Before that, sophomore
Kyle Weekes and freshman
Joshua Roe Flannelly paired for a 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.Â
Roe Flannelly rejoined the team after a year away and split two sets at No. 5 singles in his first competition of the year.Â
"Credit to Dartmouth ... it's been a long two years for them with no duals and coming off a pause," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "They raised their level in critical moments of singles. That being said. we took lessons from Florida and took some steps forward as a group today. It was great to finally get Josh (Roe Flannelly) on the court and he stepped in well, helping clinch the doubles point. We're looking forward to a tough match tomorrow against Bryant."
The Bearcats will remain in Hanover for the neutral match against Bryant Sunday morning.Â
