VESTAL, N.Y. - After a two-week preseason and a pair of scrimmages, Binghamton women's soccer will open the curtain on the 2022 season with a challenging road test Thursday night in Buffalo. The Bearcats will tangle with MAC power Buffalo beginning at 7 p.m. at UB Stadium. The game will be streamed on UB's Youtube channel.
Binghamton returns five starters from an eight-win team of 2021 and will again be led by the all-conference trio of
Olivia McKnight,
Maya Anand and
Victoria McKnight. The Bearcats are two seasons removed from an America East championship game appearance and have the team depth and talent to make a similar postseason push this fall. The full season preview is
here.Â
Buffalo will be a strong opening opponent, however. The Bulls return 18 players, including eight starters, from a 13-4-3 team that reached the MAC semifinals and along the way, defeated the Bearcats 1-0 in Vestal. Buffalo was picked to finish third (of 12) in the MAC Preseason Poll and received three first place votes. The Bulls own a 5-1-1 lead in the head-to-head series with Binghamton's lone win coming back in 2009 (1-0).Â
After Thursday night's game, BU will return home and welcome Temple to the Bearcats Sports Complex for a 3 p.m. tilt on Sunday.Â
