VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer (1-1-1) will take its longest trip of the season when the Bearcats fly to East Lansing to meet Big Ten member Michigan State (2-0-1) on Sunday. The teams will square off for the first time at 1 p.m. at DeMartin Stadium. The Spartans are unbeaten and unscored upon. 

Binghamton is coming off a 1-1 draw at Marist Thursday night. The Bearcats peppered Marist's back line with 14 second-half shots but couldn't get the game-winner. Early in the period, senior forward Maya Anand struck for her second goal of the season, off a nice feed from senior midfielder Olivia McKnight. Anand fired seven shots in the contest and was a dangerous threat throughout. Despite allowing her first goal of the season (on a breakaway), senior starting keeper Nicole Scott made four saves. She has a 93.3 save percentage and a 0.67 goals against average in three starts. 

This is the middle game of three in a row on the road for the Bearcats. This will be BU's second time facing a member of the Big Ten. In the 2004 NCAA first round, BU faced No. 2 Penn State, falling 6-1 to end its championship season. 

Michigan State is coming off a 7-0 drubbing of Central Michigan on Thursday. Before that, MSU defeated reigning MAC champion Bowling Green 2-0 and played Cincinnati to a scoreless tie on the road. Six different players have scored goals and the Spartans boast All-American keeper Lauren Kozal in the back. Kozal posted seven shutouts and a 0.70 goals against average last season and was the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year. The team returns five of its top six scorers from a team that went 10-5-3 and placed fourth in the Big Ten. That 2021 squad was 5-1-2 against non-conference opponents. This year's squad was picked sixth (of 14) in the Big Ten Preseason Poll.
