VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer plays its last non-conference game before America East play opens when the Bearcats (2-4-1) host Cornell (1-4-1) Wednesday night. The teams will square off at 7 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex with the game broadcast on ESPN+.
The Bearcats are coming off a resounding 4-1 win at FDU on Sunday. They set records for fastest three goals (8:52) and fastest four goals (16:17) as they scored four in a half for the first time in 18 years.
Maya Anand tallied her third goal of the season and
Victoria McKnight scored for the second straight game. In her first collegiate start in goal,
Kaitlyn Williams made five saves in 53 minutes of action. Today is BU's final game before conference play begins on Sunday.
The Big Red are coming off a 3-0 loss at Syracuse on Sunday. Before that, Cornell beat Villanova (2-1) and tied fellow America East member Albany (1-1). The team dropped three one-goal games to open the season, including a 2-1 home loss to a Marist team that BU tied three days earlier. Senior forward Ashley Durik leads the team with two goals and five points. Cornell returns 22 letterwinners from a 3-11-2 team of a year ago. That team lost at home to Binghamton 3-1.
The Bearcats are unbeaten in their last four head-to-head against the Big Red (3-0-1) but Cornell still leads the all-time series 6-5-3. Former Bearcat assistant Jackie Firenze is now on the Big Red coaching staff.
