Bearcats play final non-conference game of season, look to get back to .500 mark

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer plays its final non-conference game of the season when the Bearcats (3-4-2) head to Dover to face Delaware State (0-10) Saturday morning. The teams kick-off at 11 a.m. at Drass Field.

The Bearcats are riding a three-game unbeaten string (2-0-1), having outscored opponents 6-2 during that stretch. On Sunday, BU blanked first-year conference member Bryant 1-0 behind a first-half goal from sophomore forward Hannah Knych. Sophomore keeper Kaitlyn Williams made three saves for her first solo shutout of the season. Williams is the reigning America East Defensive Player of the Week.

Senior forward Maya Anand leads the Bearcats with four goals and nine points. Senior Victoria McKnight and sophomore Peyton Gilmore each have two goals and an assist.

After Saturday's game, BU (1-0 AE) plays its final seven regular season games against conference opponents leading into the postseason in late October. The top four seeds (out of six qualifying teams) earn home playoff games.

Delaware State is coming off a 4-0 road loss at Mercer on Sunday. This is their second game against America East members, having lost 1-0 to UMBC back on September 1. The Hornets return 15 upperclassmen from a 3-11-1 team of a year ago. Ten of the team's players hail from the state of Maryland.

Binghamton is 2-0 all-time against Delaware State, having won identical 1-0 games in 2010 and 2011.
