Men’s Soccer heads to No. 22 Vermont

Bearcats and Catamounts open AE play Saturday at 7 p.m.

STORY LINES

- Binghamton (0-5-2, 0-0-0 AE) is coming off a 1-0 loss to Hofstra at home on Tuesday. Senior goalkeeper Mats Roorda, who has a 0.50 Goals Against Average (GAA) over the last two matches, made four saves against the Pride. His biggest stop verses Hofstra was on a penalty kick in the first half.

- Vermont (6-1-1, 0-0-0 AE) is the defending America East champion and is currently ranked No. 22 in the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Top 25 National Poll. Most recently, the Catamount beat Siena 3-0 on Wednesday.

- Alex Nagy leads Vermont and is tied for third in the America East with four goals so far this season. He is also second in the conference with 1.67 points per game (four goals, two assists in seven games)

- Binghamton begins its 21st season as a member of the America East Conference. The Bearcats have won their past two conference openers and have gone 5-1-2 in their last eight such contests.

- The last time the Bearcats defeated a nationally-ranked team came back on Sept. 29, 2018. Binghamton defeated No. 23 New Hampshire 2-1 before a sold out crowd at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

- Vermont is currently on a five-game winning streak, having scored at least two goals in each match during that stretch.

- The Catamounts lead the all-time series against Binghamton 13-6-3, having won the last six meetings. Most recently, Vermont took a 4-1 decision in Binghamton on Nov. 1, 2021. The Bearcats' last victory in the series was 2-1 triumph on the road back on Oct. 8, 2015.
