PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Binghamton came away with an individual title, two school records and an America East Conference record in the third and final day of the Bruno/Brown Swimming & Diving Invitational on Saturday at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatic Center on Saturday. The Bearcat men finished third out of five teams in the final standings while the women's squad was fifth out of six teams.
Junior
Lauren Kuzma was fourth in the women's 200 breast with a school-record time of 2:16.42. That broke the 2014 mark of 2:17.40, which was set by Corinne Zotter. Senior
Courtney Moane also swam under Zotter's record on Saturday, placing sixth overall with a time of 2:17.38.
On the men's side, the 400 free relay team of seniors
Henry Shemet and
Liam Murphy, junior
Elijah Lanfear and sophomore
Liam Preston was second overall with a time of 2:56.25. That broke the school record of 2:58.99 ,which was set last year, as well as the America East record of 2:57.45, which was set by UMBC last season.
Senior
Jake Vecchio was Binghamton's individual winner on Saturday, capturing the men's 200 fly in a time of 1:48.46. Lanfear was second in the 100 free (44.14), senior
Mark Crocker was fourth in the 200 fly (1:49.56) and Shemet placed fifth in the 200 breast (2:01.24).
Freshman
Haley Nowak was sixth overall in the women's 200 fly (2:04.40)
The Bruno/Brown Invitational concludes the fall portion of the 2023-24 schedule for Binghamton. The next meet takes place on Jan. 20 as the Bearcats host Wagner on Senior Day.
