BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis ran into a buzzsaw and lost to visiting Cleveland State 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Lane-Starke Tennis Center.

Senior No. 2 Michael Pawlowicz posted BU's win with a comeback three-setter. Pawlowicz and his opponent split two tiebreaks before Pawlowicz prevailed in the third set super tiebreak.

"Cleveland played some great tennis this weekend ... they came out firing in doubles and made it tough for us to really get our teeth into the match," head coach Nick Zieziula said. "It was a huge weekend for Michael (Pawlowicz) ... big doubles tiebreaker with James on Friday and then took both his singles matches. Beyond the result he really stepped up and played his brand of tennis on his terms, which was great to see. The next two weeks are really important for us developmentally to take the lessons from the first almost half of season and fine tune things before conference play." 

The Bearcats next host Niagara on March 2.

"We're really grateful for all the support at Lane-Starke this weekend," Zieziula added. "It was a great environment to play in and definitely helped us get over the hump against Bryant especially. We are looking forward to Niagara and Colgate at home."
