BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis controlled all three doubles matches and then used five singles wins to complete a 6-1 victory over visiting Niagara Thursday night at Lane-Starke Tennis Center.
Senior
Michael Pawlowicz was a double winner in dominant fashion. Pawlowicz paired with freshman
James McPherson for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. He then rolled to a straight-set win at No. 1 singles.
Freshman
Ronin Lotlikar improved to 13-6 with a win in the final match of the night. Lotlikar prevailed in a third-set tiebreak 8-6 to finish out the victory. Earlier, he teamed with senior
Dan Pergel for a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles.
Pergel and freshman
Andrew Fang joined Pawlowicz and Lotlikar as double winners. Each registered a straight-sets singles win for his first dual victory of the spring. Fang's win clinched the team victory for the Bearcats.
"It was great to get a sweep of the doubles tonight," head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "It's been a while since we've done that. There was good, aggressive movement on all three courts. In singles we had a few too many lulls when we got sloppy but it was really solid from Dan (Pergel) and Michael (Pawlowicz) from start to finish."Â
The Bearcats host Colgate at 5 p.m. Saturday.Â
