VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer continues its challenging opening stretch when the Bearcats (0-2-1) travel up I-81 to meet ACC member Syracuse (1-2) Sunday night. The teams will square off at 7 p.m. at the SU Soccer Stadium.Â
Binghamton is coming off a 3-0 road loss at Seton Hall on Thursday. Previously BU lost at Fairfield (2-0) and tied Canisius (0-0). The Bearcats have outshot their opponents and have doubled them up on corner kicks but are looking to ramp up the team's goal production before conference play begins. Binghamton has five more games before the start of America East play, when BU will defend its regular season title.Â
Junior keeper
Kaitlyn Williams owns a 1.67 goals against average and a 71% save percentage.
Syracuse dropped a 2-1 decision to Auburn on Thursday. In their first two games, the Orange lost at Delaware (1-0) and toppled Siena (3-0). Senior forward Hannah Pilley leads the team with two goals. Sophomore keeper Shea Vanderbosch has a 1.00 goals against average after posting a 1.02 mark as a freshman starter in 2022.Â
The Orange went 8-7-3 last season but were 7-2 outside the rugged ACC, where five of the nation's top six teams reside.Â
Binghamton is 1-8-1 all-time against SU and has dropped six straight in the series, although four of the six defeats have come by the narrowest margin. Last September in Vestal, Syracuse prevailed 2-1. The Bearcats tied SU 1-1 back in 2006 and posted a 1-0 win in 2005.  Â
