VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer begins a stretch of two straight road games when the first-place Bearcats (3-4-4, 2-0-1 America East) head to Rhode Island to face Bryant (5-3-2, 1-1-1 AE) Sunday afternoon. The teams square off at noon at Beirne Stadium in Smithfield.Â
Binghamton is coming off a 2-2 home tie with Albany on Thursday. Despite extending the team's unbeaten streak to four games and remaining undefeated in conference play, BU surrendered two goals in the final four minutes and missed an opportunity to tack on three points to its America East standings point total.Â
The sophomore tandem of
Lauren Clark and
Samiya Reid scored goals for the Bearcats, with Clark getting her team-high fourth of the season and Reid converting her first.Â
Bryant is coming off a 1-0 road win over Vermont on Thursday. Before that, the Bulldogs tied UMBC (2-2) and lost to New Hampshire (2-0). Bryant ranks seventh in the conference in scoring (1.0 goals per game) but second in defense (6 shutouts, 0.80 goals against). The Bulldogs are led by Catherine Bean and Madison Luke (All-Rookie in '22), who have two goals and five points apiece. Entering their second season in the America East, Bryant was picked to finish ninth in the Coaches' Preseason Poll after going 0-5-3 last season against conference foes.
Binghamton leads the all-time series 4-1-1 and has won the last three games, including a 1-0 home win last September. In that game,
Hannah Knych scored the game's lone goal in the 40th minute. Â
