VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton men's tennis kicks off a 21-match spring slate this weekend when the Bearcats travel to Ohio for a pair of matches against Horizon League members. Binghamton will face Cleveland State Friday night and then play at Youngstown State Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcats completed the five-tournament fall season in November and will now turn their attention to nearly two-dozen dual matches before participating in their inaugural Northeast Conference Championship on April 12-14. Binghamton also capped its fall season with another stellar showing in the classroom (3.79).Â
Sophomore
Ronin Lotlikar led BU with a 13-1 mark in the fall.Â
"The start of the season is always special... 0-0 record ... so many stories to be written but this year is especially exciting," 10th-year head coach
Nick Zieziula said. "We have a new conference, new facility and we're coming off of one of our best fall semesters in a long while. We had a great start to training last week; the guys put in the work and look sharp. James (McPherson) was a hitting partner at the WTA and ATP events in New Zealand and Zubin (Omar) got to train with several ATP players in Barcelona. We're starting off healthy and we're all on the same page with our goals and our belief in our ability to accomplish them. This group is growing on and off court, with each other and in the community and now we get a chance this weekend to put it together on court."
