Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Mock Duals

Bearcats pick up 11 singles, six doubles victories

Box Score BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Men's Tennis hosted five teams in the Naterentals.com Mock Duals this weekend at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center. 

"We had a great weekend of tennis up at the Lane-Starke Tennis Center," said Head Coach Nick Ziezula. "I'm super appreciative of Naterentals.com and Big Zues for sponsoring the event and helping us be able to bring in some great matches for the team to play at home."

"We were able to mix around doubles pairings a bit and work on that aspect of our game. I thought the guys did a good job of committing to what we've worked on in practice."

The Bearcats picked up 11 singles and six doubles against players from Army, Le Moyne, Monmouth, Niagara and Siena.

Zubin Omar highlighted action for Binghamton with three singles wins to go a perfect 3-0 on the weekend. The senior notched a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Army before claiming tough three-set wins over Monmouth, 6-4, 6-7 (9) 10-8, and Siena, 2-6, 6-2, 10-8. 

William Morais Binnie earned his own perfect weekend with two straight-set singles victories against Monmouth, 6-3, 6-1, and Army, 6-3, 7-5. 

Ronan Lotlikar and Andre Andre recorded two wins for the Bearcats in doubles. The pairing grabbed its first win over Siena, 6-4, Friday afternoon and its second vs. Monmouth, 6-2, Saturday morning. 

"The guys are working hard and moving in the right direction, expanding what they can do in their games," Ziezula added. "We've got one more opportunity to compete at Navy so we're looking forward to finishing up strong with the last two weeks of practice and one more competition opportunity."

Next up, the Bearcats finish out the fall slate at the Navy Invitational, Nov. 8-10. Match time is slated for 9 a.m.
