Tennis Finishes Up Naterentals.com NEC Invitational

Omar wins Flight B singles bracket, Ajed and Omar take Flight B doubles title

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (binghamtonbearcats.com) - Binghamton Tennis concluded the Naterentals.com NEC Invitational Sunday afternoon inside the Lane-Starke Tennis Center. 

Zubin Omar highlighted action for the men's team, winning both the Flight B Men's singles and doubles title with teammate Andre Ajed. Omar defeated Mercyhurst's Lukas Cabue in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 to take the flight while he and Ajed took down a Stonehill doubles pairing 6-4. 

The Bearcat women earned 16 wins over the weekend, highlighted by Loren Cuomo and Natalia Aruj third-place finish in Flight A doubles, after they downed LIU's second seeded Clara Tardivel and Mia Tsoukalas, 6-3. 

Clara Arbeloa Lopez won the Flight B singles consolation final 7-6 (6), 7-5 over Mercyhurst's Roisin Murphy. Kayla Castellano notched a victory in the Flight E singles consolation final 6-1, 6-1 against teammate Valeria Gonzalez. Samantha Jaros and Nitya Vyas also claimed the Flight B doubles consolation final, 7-5, over a pair from Mercyhurst.

Next up, the men will travel to Annapolis, Md. to compete in the Navy Gold Invitational, Friday, Oct. 11 while the women will head west to take on Saint Francis and University at Buffalo, Oct. 5, in Buffalo, N.Y.
