VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton women's soccer plays the first of two home games in a four-day span when the Bearcats (1-2-2) welcome ACC member Syracuse (4-1-1) to town for a Thursday night tilt. The teams will square off for the 11th time in history at 6:07 p.m. at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
The game will mark Binghamton's second home game in the first six to start the season. The Bearcats are coming off a 2-0 loss at American on Thursday. The program is 1-9-1 all-time against SU but six of the nine defeats, including each of the last three, were by one goal. Binghamton has three games remaining before beginning defense of its back-to-back America East regular season crowns. Conference play begins Sept. 22 up in Orono, Maine.
Senior forward
Hannah Mimas leads the Bearcats and is tied for second in the America East with three goals and seven points. Freshman midfielder
Anna Buckwalter has two goals. Senior
Kaitlyn Williams (1.20 GAA) and sophomore
Rebecca Kessler (3.20) have shared the goalkeeper duties.
The Orange had its five-match season-opening unbeaten string snapped on Sunday in a 2-1 road loss at Cornell. Syracuse has outscored opponents 12-3. Fellow America East member Maine showed the way, however, with a 1-1 road draw against SU on Aug. 18. The Orange compete in the daunting 17-team ACC, which boasts six teams ranked in the nation's Top 25.
