Bearcat men win 189-110, women take 167-129 decision

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Senior Elijah Lanfear and freshman Evan Peters each won three individual events while three Bearcat women swept a pair of individual events, highlighting Binghamton's sweep at Wagner in a swimming & diving dual meet on Saturday. The Bearcat men won 189-110 while the women were victorious by a 167-129 margin. 

Lanfear swept the men's 50 free (21.41), 100 free (47.58) and 100 fly (50.41). He also swam on the first-place 200 medley relay team that included senior Max Kaback, junior Liam Preston and freshman Tyler Schultz and clocked a time of 1:34.38.

Peters, meanwhile, was a triple event winner for the first time in his career. He swept the 200 free (1:43.17), 200 back (1:54.09) and 200 IM (1:56.34).

Juniors Maria Pignatelli and Elizabeth Tirado as well as sophomore Fayanne Smith-Salzberg were the Bearcats women's double-event winners. Pignatelli captured the 50 free (24.77) and the 100 free (53.07), Smith-Salzberg took top honors in the 200 breast (2:25.43) and the 200 IM (2:12.64) and Tirado was victorious in the one-meter diving event (245.45) as well as the three-meter diving competition (224.10).

Other Binghamton winners on the women's side included freshman Natalie Kassirer in the 1,000 free (10:57.61) and sophomore Haley Nowak in the 100 fly (59.41).

The Bearcat men's team's other individual event winners against Wagner were sophomore Harrison Lambert in the 1,000 free (9:48.04), sophomore Dylan Norby in the three-meter diving event (273.95), freshman Logan Shriver in the 500 free (4:48.34) and freshman Jacob Koclanis in the one-meter diving competition (249.30).

Binghamton returns home to face Marist in its annual Senior Day Meet this coming Saturday at 1 p.m.
