VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton Volleyball Volunteer Assistant Coach Andrew Kim is getting a special opportunity to develop his coaching skills as he has received a T.E.A.M. Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the organization announced Tuesday.
 
A T.E.A.M. Award, which promotes Togetherness, Empowerment, Accessibility, and Mentoring, gives volleyball coaches across the country a chance to take part in the AVCA's coach development program. Kim, who is sponsored by the America East Conference, is one of 44 people to receive this honor. As part of the award, Kim will get to attend the 2025 AVCA Convention from Dec. 17-21 in Kansas City, Mo. At the convention, Kim will take part in a series of educational seminars, many of which focus on both professional and personal development for coaches, and participate in relationship-building experiences.
 
"I am honored and humbled to be part of this year's AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards Program," said Kim. "I would like to thank Coach Yaeger and the America East Conference as a whole for the opportunity to expand my knowledge and network in the coaching world. It means a lot to me as a first-year coach to be recognized by the AVCA T.E.A.M. Committee to advance my career. I hope to meet new and familiar faces at the convention!"
 
Kim, a five-time All-American from his collegiate playing career at Hobart and Vassar, is in his first season on the coaching staff at Binghamton. He has helped the Bearcats win 11 games this season, including five in America East Conference play.
 
Binghamton next plays its final home match of the regular season at 6 p.m., on Friday at the Events Center against Bryant. After the match, Binghamton celebrates Senior Day by recognizing Emily Cronkhite, Alexandra Koleva and Merima Smajlovic for their contributions to the program.
