VESTAL, N.Y. – A game against an ACC foe and a first-ever meeting with Big East royalty highlight the Binghamton men's basketball 2025-26 schedule, released on Tuesday. The season opening game against a still-to-be-named high profile opponent will be announced in the coming days.
Under fifth-year head coach
Levell Sanders, the Bearcats open their campaign on Monday, Nov. 3 (opponent TBA) and then the Bearcats' home opener against RIT will follow on Wednesday, Nov. 5.
Binghamton will play teams from seven different conferences, meet five teams that won 17+ games last season and face three first-time opponents, including Big East member Georgetown (Nov. 12 in Washington D.C.).
The Bearcats will welcome in-state Division III program RIT to the Events Center on Nov. 5. A home date with Niagara follows on Nov. 8.
Binghamton then heads to the Washington metro area for games at Georgetown and Longwood in a four-day span. The Bearcats and Hoyas will play for the first time when they meet Nov. 12 at the Capital One Arena, home to the NBA Wizards and NHL Capitals. Georgetown is coming off an 18-win season that ended in the Collegiate Baseball Crown postseason quarterfinals. The team won eight games in the Big East.
Three days later, the Bearcats will be in central Virginia for a rematch with Big South power Longwood. The Pacers beat Binghamton 66-60 last winter at the Events Center and are coming off an 18-win season. Longwood captured the Big South title and played in the NCAA tournament in 2024.
After a repeat home date with Misericordia (Nov. 19), the Bearcats head to Buffalo for a pair of games against Canisius and first-time foe Maryland-Eastern Shore in the Queen City Classic. December features three straight home games at the Events Center: first-time Patriot League opponent Lehigh (Dec. 2), Le Moyne (Dec. 6) and a Central Connecticut State team (Dec. 13) that is coming off a 25-7 season that included a 14-game win streak and NEC regular season title.
The team's final Power 4 game is at Pitt on Dec. 17. The Panthers won 17 games last year, including eight in the ACC. It will be the second meeting in three years between the two teams, with Pitt winning 89-60 in 2023. A same-trip road game at Mercyhurst (Dec. 20) in Erie, Pa. follows.
The Bearcats close out their calendar year with a road game at Army (Dec. 23) and a home game against Elmira (Dec. 29). Army won 17 games last season and reached the quarterfinals of the CBI tournament.
The 16-game America East schedule begins with a Jan. 3 home game against NJIT. The schedule features eight home and eight away games against the other eight conference members. Eight weeks later, the Bearcats host New Hampshire (Feb. 26) and Maine (Feb. 28) to close out the regular season. The America East quarterfinals are on March 7, semifinals on March 10 and the championship game is March 14. Binghamton will be gunning for a top-4 conference finish, which would provide a home quarterfinal game.
